Amsterdam, 25 March 2010 - What is a network availability of 99.999 percent worth if business critical applications are not given ultimate priority? How can IT managers stay ahead of their network's performance and optimise their IT environment on an ongoing basis?
These challenges are now being addressed by Colt, the leading information delivery platform for European businesses. These new tools and services offered by Colt give customers the ability to optimise their IT performance without adding cost.
The new business optimising tools and services offered by Colt include:
* Application-aware networking: Colt helps companies prioritise their business critical applications and delivers SLAs that guarantee prioritisation and performance of these applications
* SLAs on latency and jitter: Colt introduces SLAs to guarantee maximum and consistent levels of latency and jitter
* Online Performance Portal: IT and network managers can now monitor exactly how their Ethernet and IP VPN networks are operating and delivering in accordance with their SLAs.
* Innovative pricing schemes: Colt offers international flat-rate pricing on Ethernet services enabling users to only pay for the amount of bandwidth provided and not for geographic reach. Colt also has more transparent pricing on IP VPN networks
* New low latency routes: Colt has improved trading routes between key financial centres, including routes to Chicago, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam
“IT managers today are looking at ways to achieve smarter consumption of their IT resources. Colt’s advice is to prioritise and maximise the capacity of their existing facilities,” said Ed Schravesande, Director Major Enterprise Division Colt Netherlands. “Colt takes a holistic approach to IT performance by looking at applications, network and pricing – all under one umbrella. Our integrated approach is a strong enabler of business optimisation that is future-proof,”
Traditionally, the IT and telecoms industry answer to requests for increased business efficiency has been more bandwidth. But in most cases, ramping up bandwidth will only be a short-term solution - and will increase end users costs.
“The best recipe for optimising businesses is to have the right network, prioritise the applications running over it, request SLAs that guarantee maximum application throughput and ensure low and consistent levels of latency and jitter. Finally, you need to have it all priced in a simple, transparent way. Colt is in a strong position to deliver that complete package to its customer,” said Ed Schravesande.
“In 2009 we really focused on building the platform for the optimisation of business networks which we are now taking to our customers. We refined our infrastructure in order to accommodate the changing world that our customers are operating in. We developed our next generation long distance network and Multi Service Platform and set the foundation for Colt to deliver services and tools that can truly take our customer’s applications and communications to the next level.” Ed Schravesande added.
